Safe for children!

Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, affects a significant portion of the population. Approximately 31.6 million people in the United States have some form of eczema. Globally, about 15-20% of children and 1-3% of adults are affected by atopic dermatitis. In the U.S., 15.1% of children and 7.3% of adults have atopic dermatitis (National Eczema Association) (Allergy & Asthma Network) (Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America).

This chronic skin condition leads to dry, itchy, and inflamed skin, often causing significant discomfort and impacting quality of life. It's prevalent in both children and adults, with a higher occurrence in childhood.

Although Eczema stems from a more deeply rooted internal imbalance, oils can help considerably to relieve the itch and discomfort due to an eczema breakout. This salve includes oils that can help eczema specifically, but also bring relief to other skin rashes, irritations, and imbalances!

Instructions for use: Apply a pea-sized amount of salve on area of concern. Apply as needed for pain, itch, and irritation relief. Apply daily for scar itching and healing.

Ingredients

Melaleuca

Melaleuca {also known as tea tree oil} has strong anti-inflammatory effects, which can help reduce the inflammation and redness associated with eczema. The active components, such as terpinen-4-ol, are known to modulate inflammatory responses in the skin (National Eczema Association). Eczema-affected skin is often susceptible to infections due to its compromised barrier function. Tea tree oil has potent antimicrobial properties, including antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral activities. Both anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties help to relieve itchiness. Tea tree oil promotes wound healing and can help repair the skin barrier, which is often damaged in those who suffer from eczema.

Geranium

Geranium oil has strong anti-inflammatory effects, which can help reduce the inflammation, redness, and swelling associated with eczema. The active compounds in geranium oil, such as citronellol and geraniol, are known to modulate inflammatory responses(National Eczema Association). Like tea tree oil, geranium oil has antimicrobial properties, including antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral activities. This helps prevent secondary infections that often occur in eczema-affected skin due to scratching and compromised skin barriers. Geranium oil contains antioxidants that help protect the skin from oxidative stress and free radical damage, which can worsen eczema symptoms.

Lavender

Lavender oil has potent anti-inflammatory effects that can help reduce the inflammation, redness, and swelling associated with eczema. The active compounds, such as linalool and linalyl acetate, are known to soothe irritated skin and decrease inflammatory responses(National Eczema Association)(Allergy & Asthma Network). Lavender oil possesses antimicrobial properties. These properties help prevent secondary infections that can occur in eczema-affected skin due to scratching and compromised skin barriers. Lavender oil is well-known for its soothing and calming effects, which can help alleviate the itchiness and discomfort associated with eczema. Its calming scent also provides aromatherapeutic benefits, which can reduce stress—a known trigger for eczema flare-ups(National Eczema Association). Lavender oil promotes wound healing and skin regeneration, speeding up the recovery process.

Eucalyptus

The active compound eucalyptol (also known as 1,8-cineole) in eucalyptus is known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and decrease inflammatory responses (National Eczema Association). Eucalyptus oil has analgesic (pain-relieving) properties that can help reduce the discomfort and itching associated with eczema. This can improve overall comfort and reduce the urge to scratch, which can further irritate the skin.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is an excellent natural moisturizer. It penetrates deeply into the skin, providing long-lasting hydration and helping to maintain the skin's natural moisture barrier. It contains antioxidants, including vitamin E, polyphenols, and phytosterols. These antioxidants help protect the skin from oxidative stress and free radical damage. The anti-inflammatory compounds in olive oil, such as oleocanthal, can help reduce inflammation and soothe irritated skin. This makes it beneficial for conditions like eczema and psoriasis. The regenerative properties of olive oil can aid in the healing of minor cuts, wounds, and burns. It can also help reduce the appearance of scars.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is an excellent moisturizer that deeply hydrates the skin, leaving it soft and smooth. Forms a protective barrier on the skin that locks in moisture, preventing dryness. Rich in antioxidants like vitamin E, which helps fight free radicals and reduces the signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles. Reduces inflammation and soothes conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. Provides minimal protection against UV rays. Acts as a barrier to protect the skin from environmental pollutants and harsh weather conditions.

Beeswax

Beeswax is a natural humectant, meaning it helps attract and retain moisture in the skin. It reduces inflammation and soothes irritated or inflamed skin, making it beneficial for conditions like eczema and dermatitis. Rich in vitamin A, which supports cell reconstruction and can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Beeswax's natural antibacterial properties help protect the skin from infections and bacteria.

Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E oil helps protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, which are generated by exposure to UV radiation, pollution, and other environmental factors. This protection helps prevent signs of premature aging. Vitamin E oil can help speed up the healing process of wounds and reduce the appearance of scars. It promotes cell regeneration and can help soften and smooth the skin's texture.
